Can i cross state lines with a rental car?

I'm planning road trip and i wanna know if i rent a car in my own state and drive it the 1500 miles there and the 1500 miles back will the rental car company charge me extra or is it still a flat rate for the whole duration? I would drop it off where i'm going but it's cheaper to drop it back off where i got it from so that's why i'm doing it that way. any help is appreciated.

• last time i rented a car i drove from las vegas to memphis and back, flat fee was about 200 dollars. just bring it back full of gas. that was from budget. had it 8 days. dont buy the extra insurance, all the insurance you need is included already.
• you can drop it off when you get back. They will probably charge you additional miles. Driving across states is fine
