Can a car rust overnight in Colorado?
I rented a car from Budget rental car, drove 800 miles to Colorado, parked the car in an apartment complex lot, left it overnight for one night, went out the next morning, there was a spot I hadn't noticed when I looked the car over before leaving. Went over to look at it because I thought it was just a door ding, but it had rust on it. So, I figured that couldn't have happened on my trip. Returned the car to Budget, now they are saying I will have to pay for the damage. I checked with one body shop here and the guy said no way could it have rusted overnight. Can rust form on a vehicle in Colorado overnight in 60 - 70 degree temperatures under trees and little or no rain?

well only if it was a Honda..
.i live in California cars don't rust here at all

- Not a chance. Snow has a better chance of melting in hell! It would not rust overnight even if is was -60 or -70.
- Rusting takes a long time, years before it would show., However if a "ding" or "scrap had been there previously, exposing bare steel, it may get a very light "color of rust", (not to be confused with real rust), but nothing that couldn't be just wiped off by hand. There is No way Budget can claim you made their car rust, even if you had it for a over a month. I would fight it, don't pay them.
- thats crazy no way it was prob. rusted and had touch up paint from the last guy who had the car
- Nope. Colo has a dry climate. No way it rusted over night.
