Can i cross state lines with a rental car?

I'm planning road trip and i wanna know if i rent a car in my own state and drive it the 1500 miles there and the 1500 miles back will the rental car company charge me extra or is it still a flat rate for the whole duration? How can I avoid paying for car rental insurance?

I drive a rental car, but the insurance is very expensive. I have to pay a daily price. I have non owners insurance, but that does not cover collision. Is there a way to avoid paying these prices as they are so expensive but still have full coverage? I tried to insure the car but I couldn't being that it isn't minds. The non owners policy is legal but it doesn't cover the car. Thanks for any suggestions.

It depends on where you are renting the car. Is it a major hub city or a less popular airport? I found a very inexpensive luxury car rental out of Louisville that was only $287 total for 15 days.

The car was from Budget. I used a AAA discount and an upgrade coupon from Hertz. That's right Hertz. If they want your business they will honor the competitions ads. We were going to travel the east coast for a vacation - Airfare to New York or Washington DC for 4 was more than twice what I paid for airfare and a car, even with the fuel costs. 1. Well, most rental places I have come across require you to be 25 or something stupid to rent a car. Enterprise however will let you rent a car if you are under 25, but they will slap you with a 100 dollar adjustment to your bill. The other issue is it is extremely hard to find an enterprise place that will let you do this, but according to their website it exists.
2. You will need several tools for this, a brick, a knowledge of hot wiring cars, and a police scanner. Throw the brick through the window of any parked car, let yourself in, get that thing started with your hotwiring expertise, and then get the hell out of there. Use the police scanner to listen if they are onto you, if you suspect they are onto you, ditch the car somewhere, find another parked car and repeat this process. Guaranteed to work.
